Please read ALL these Terms and Conditions.

As we can accept your Membership enrolment and make a legally enforceable agreement without further reference to you, you must read these Terms and Conditions to make sure that they contain all that you want and nothing that you are not happy with.

These Terms and Conditions are entered between Select Singles and any individual having the quality of Member (hereinafter “you”, “your” or “Member”).

The terms “we” and “our” and “us” refer to Select Singles, as defined in these Terms and Conditions.

1. Application

1.1 These Terms and Conditions will apply to the purchase of the Services by you. We are Select Gateway Limited (trading as Select Singles) a company registered in England and Wales under number 11124724

1.2 These are the Terms on which we sell our Services to you. Before enrolling with Select Singles, you will be asked to agree to these Terms and Conditions at your personal Registration meeting with us. You can only purchase the Services we offer if you are eligible to enter into a contract and are at least 18 years old.

1.3 We have the right to refuse applications based on unsuitability, without giving specific reasons.

1.4 By paying for and accepting Services from Select Singles you are accepting our Terms and Conditions of Membership herein. Please read them carefully. We also ask you to sign a copy of these Terms and Conditions for our records.

1.5 Your attention is drawn to our right to terminate your Membership in the event of your breach of these Terms and Conditions.

1.6 Your Membership is unique and personal to you and is non-transferable. We may transfer our rights and obligations under these Terms and Conditions at any time.

2. Interpretation

The words or terms used in these Terms and Conditions shall have the following meaning:

2.1 “Consumer Contracts Regulations” refers to the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.

2.2 “Select Singles” refers to a set of Services designed to promote person-to-person meetings for personal, leisure and non-commercial purposes.

2.3 “Registration” refers to the process and one-off payment to become a Member.

2.4 “Member(s)” refers to one (or all) user(s) of one or more Services whom have subscribed to a Select Singles Subscription or have access to any of the Services after Registration.

2.5 “Registration Consultation” refers to the initial and informal consultation with Select Singles to gather personal information to match the Membership Package best for the individual. Photos will be taken for the creation of the personalised ID cards.

2.6 “Subscription” refers to the ongoing monthly charges according to your specific Membership Package, to be paid via direct debit.

2.7 “Membership Package” refers to the different levels of Membership – Gold & Platinum.

2.8 “Gold Membership” includes:
Registration Consultation;
Personal vetting process (where you are required to produce passport or driving licence, 2 utility bills or any other recent formal letters showing your home postal address);
Personalised Photo ID Card; and
1 Event per month.

2.9 “Platinum Membership” includes:
Registration Consultation
Personal vetting process (including marital status checks);
Personalised Photo ID Card
Informal Introductions at the Events;
Special discounts available for other local businesses; and
2 Events per month.

2.10 “Photo ID Card” refers to the personalised Photo ID card which are provided to all Members and are essential for entry to any Select Singles Events.

2.11 “Event” refers to all of the recreational Events or activities that allow Members to meet other Members.

2.12 “Option(s)” refers to the Paid Service(s) on offer to the Platinum Members only.

2.13 “Website(s)” refers to www.selectsingles.co.uk

2.14 “Upgrade” refers to the paid addition to Upgrade from Gold Membership to Platinum Membership.

2.15 “Informal Introduction” refers to the Select Singles hosts informally introducing Members to other Members at any of the Platinum Members Events only.

2.16 “Terms of Use” refers to this contract.

3. Services

3.1 The description of the Services is as set out in the Website, brochures or other form of advertisement. Any visual images are for illustrative purposes only.

3.2 In the case of Services made to your special requirements, it is your responsibility to ensure that any information you provide is accurate.

3.3 We can make changes to the Services which are necessary to comply with any applicable law or safety requirement. We will notify you of these changes.


4.1 We operate by providing platforms for groups of singles to meet at Events. Depending on the Membership Package you have chosen, these may be with large or small groups of Members. We cannot insist Members attend and reserve the right to cancel or rearrange an Event if there is insufficient interest.

4.2 In the event of you or Select Singles having to cancel an Event we expressly exclude any liability for any direct or indirect losses or damages however arising as a result of such a cancellation and will not be responsible for any travel or accommodation costs incurred. In the event of a cancellation we will use reasonable endeavours to alert those who have booked to attend.

4.3 We are not exclusive and permit Members to join from different age groups and sexual orientation.

4.4 Whilst we endeavour to have like-minded Members at our Events, we cannot guarantee equal numbers of men and women.

4.5 We will endeavour to have a desirable age range for our Members preferences, however this cannot be guaranteed.

4.6 We will endeavour to have an equal number of Members with their gender preferences, however this cannot be guaranteed.

4.7 We do have exclusivity of the areas we use at our Events and only Members are permitted in those areas, however other areas of the venues may be open to the general public and we cannot guarantee your privacy.

4.8 We will deliver the Events, to the locations by the time or within the agreed period or, failing any agreement within a reasonable time.

4.9 We cannot guarantee entry to an Event if a Member does not provide their personalised Photo ID Card.

4.10 We will endeavour to have Members living locally to the area.

5. Our Responsibilities

5.1 We undertake to protect confidentiality of our Members at all times.

5.2 At our discretion we will only accept Membership applications from those individuals we believe to be suitable Members.

5.3 We undertake to make every reasonable effort to ensure that we only accept responsible clients as Members. We do not carry out police or DBS checks.

6. Your Responsibilities

6.1 You must co-operate with us in all matters relating to the Services, provide us and our authorised employees and representatives with access to all information required to perform the Services and obtain any necessary information (unless otherwise agreed).

6.2 Failure to comply with the above is a Member default which entitles us to suspend performance of the Services until you remedy it or if you fail to remedy it following our request, we can terminate the Contract with immediate effect on written notice to you.

6.3 It is your responsibility to ensure your own safety at all times. We provide a platform for you to meet potential partners and encourage you to meet up a number of times and feel comfortable and safe with someone before meeting them in a one to one situation.

6.4 All information provided by you must be accurate and true. You agree that we are not responsible for any disclosure of your information which occurs by your direct or indirect action. We also cannot be held responsible if any of your information is disseminated by another Member

6.5 You acknowledge that Select Singles cannot be held liable for the accuracy or inaccuracy of the information and content provided by Members (and the consequences of reliance on any such information).

6.6 Members must conduct themselves ethically, and behave with respect for the rights of other Members third parties, and the respect for the laws and regulations in force. You have a responsibility to inform us if you believe any Member has acted in a manner which violates our requirements about Members’ conduct, including any data protection breaches. This responsibility applies even if you are the Member breaching these requirements.

6.7 In all aspects of your Membership with Select Singles in no way absolves you of the personal responsibility for your own safety or security during meetings or relationships with other Members. You understand and accept that Select Singles cannot be held responsible for what happens beyond effecting an initial introduction or organising an Event, save to the extent not permitted by law.

6.8 You agree to conduct yourself appropriately with Members at Events and not to engage in behaviour likely to cause offence or distress to other Members to cause harm to the reputation of Select Singles. You are responsible for any loss or damage caused by your actions or omissions, and you shall indemnify us against any loss or damage caused by your actions or omissions.

6.9 The Member agrees to immediately inform Select Singles of any changes to the data provided at the time of Registration.

6.10 You are responsible for the safety and security of your Photo ID card.

6.11 Failure to adhere to any of these responsibilities may result in the termination of your Membership Package.

7. Indemnity

7.1 You agree to indemnify us (including our directors, employees, subcontractors, agents and affiliated companies) against all 3rd party claims and liabilities related to your breach of these Terms and Conditions and/or to your use of the Services.

8. Members Notifications

8.1 Select Singles will contact you by using e-mail or other electronic communication methods and you expressly agree to this.

9. Select Singles Obligations Pertaining to the Services

9.1 Select Singles are an introductory platform of social Events and cannot guarantee you will meet someone to form a relationship with. We are not responsible for any circumstance in relation to meetings between Members during the use of the Services or following the use of the Services. Select Singles disclaim all liability for acts of any kind committed by its Members during the running of the Events. Select Singles do not limit or exclude their liability to you for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, our fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that may not be limited or excluded under English law.

10. Fees and Payment

10.1 You must pay for your Membership Package at your Registration Consultation with a credit or debit card for the one-off Membership charge. You will need your bank account details for the direct debit form for the monthly Subscription charge.

10.2 Fees may be calculated with reference to various fixed prices dependant on the Membership Package chosen by you. From time to time there may be various promotions on Membership Subscriptions, where different genders are offered alternative fees in order to achieve our aim to have equal number of gender preferences.

10.3 The Registration fee is non-refundable. However, if Members wish to continue their Membership Package after twelve months they will not be asked to pay this again as long as they continue to pay their monthly Subscription.

10.4 The monthly Subscription carries an initial 14 days cooling off period. After this period, we require in writing (email or letter) to Select Singles with one calendar month notice period of termination of your Membership Subscription.

10.5 An additional one-off payment is applicable for the Upgrade from Gold to Platinum Membership Subscription. The fee is the monetary difference between the two Packages. The payment will be carried out by a credit or debit card.

11. Members’ Privacy and Data Protection

11.1 General information - This Privacy Policy applies to Select Singles. We enforce the highest standards with respect to Members’ privacy and personal data protection and we answer to the Information Commissioner’s Office in the UK for the personal data processing we operate and have made a notification to the UK Information Commissioner, under no. ZA344418.

11.2 When and why do we collect information about you? We must collect information about you at the Registration Consultation. Some information is required to ascertain which Membership Package is best suited for the individual. The data provided during the Platinum Membership Registration, is to help us match you to other Platinum Members at the Events. We also ask further questions at all Member Registration to help us customise advertisements, future Events, special offers or additional services.11.2 When and why do we collect information about you? We must collect information about you at the Registration Consultation. Some information is required to ascertain which Membership Package is best suited for the individual. The data provided during the Platinum Membership Registration, is to help us match you to other Platinum Members at the Events. We also ask further questions at all Member Registration to help us customise advertisements, future Events, special offers or additional services.

11.3 What information do we collect? The personal data we collect may include your name, postal and electronic address, mobile or landline phone number, banking information, information about your physical appearance, gender, date of birth, occupation and what you are looking for. Within the Platinum Membership Registration process we will ask for further information and focus on your personal values and interests and your use of the Services.

11.4 Sensitive data - Any information provided concerning racial or ethnic origin, political, philosophical or religious opinions, trade union membership and health or sex life is sensitive data. This sensitive data is likely, under the liability of the Member disseminating same, to disclose the Member’s ethnic origin, nationality, religion and/or sexual orientation. By providing such information, the Member concerned expressly consents to the processing of this data by Select Singles and assumes sole responsibility and liability for same.

11.5 Who has access to this information? Information about you obtained when subscribing to our Services help us offer you other Services. We have taken all precautions in our databases to archive your information in a secure environment. Only a small number of our employees have access to your information, which may only be accessed in the event of need.

11.6 Links to other Websites - This privacy policy does not apply to third-party Websites which are external to Select Singles are in no way liable for the privacy policy of these External Websites. If Select Singles provide hyperlinks to External Websites, they do not recommend the use of these other Websites and give no guarantees as to their content or the products and Services furnished and sold by these External Websites.

11.7 In a normal course of the Membership we undertake not to pass your information to third parties without your consent, unless required to do so by government agencies in pursuit of their statutory powers.

12. Intellectual Property

12.1 We own all material and information contained on our website and promotional materials and you cannot reproduce any of the material or information without our express permission.

12.2 Any rights or licences afforded in respect of the Services are terminated upon the end of our agreement, however the agreement is ended.

12.3 You agree that you will not replicate or act in competition of any of the Services for the duration of your time as a Member.

13. Right to Cancel

13.1 Subject as stated in these Terms and Conditions, you can cancel this contract within the first 14 days cooling off period after Registration (in writing) without giving any reason.

13.2 The cancellation period will expire after 14 days from the Registration date. After this period, it will become the mandatory one calendar month notice period.

13.3 To exercise the right to cancel, you must inform us of your decision to cancel this Contract by email or letter and must not then have any right to attend any Event. In any event, you must be able to show clear evidence of when the cancellation was

13.4 We will communicate to you an acknowledgement of receipt of such a cancellation by email without delay.

13.5 To meet the cancellation deadline, it is sufficient for you to send your communication concerning your exercise of the right to cancel before the cancellation period has expired.

13.6 Commencement of Services in the cancellation period - We must not begin to supply a Service before the end of the cancellation period.

13.7 Effects of cancellation in the cancellation period - We will only reimburse the Membership Subscription if cancelled within the first 14 days after Registration.

13.8 We reserve the right to terminate any Membership at any point without giving a reason or notification period.

14. Reimbursement

If you exercise your right to cancel during the cooling off period, we will make the reimbursement without undue delay, and not later than 14 days after the day on which we are informed about your decision to cancel this Contract.

We will make the reimbursement using the same means of payment as you used for the initial transaction, unless you have expressly agreed otherwise.

15. Duration and Termination

15.1 The Contract is for 12 months Membership from the date of Registration unless cancelled by you by email at any time after the initial 3 months have passed. If you wish to remain as a Member after the 12 months period you will not be required to pay another Registration fee.

15.2 Either you or we may terminate the Contract at any time by a written notice of termination. If you do not give notice of the end of the 12 month period, your Membership Package will continue on a one-month rolling basis.

15.3 The Contract (including any non-contractual matters) is governed by the law of England and Wales and disputes are submitted to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

We try to avoid any dispute, so we deal with complaints as follows: If a dispute occurs customers should contact us to find a solution. We will aim to respond to help with the resolution of the problem within 15 days.

16. Non-Competition

16.1 You undertake not to become involved in the management or operation of a similar organisation to Select Singles, organising Events or arranging Introductions. You undertake not to entice Select Singles Members to join a competing organisation.

16.2 You understand that considerable intellectual property is contained within Select Singles marketing materials and Members notifications are provided personally to you and are not to be provided and disclosed by you to similar or competing organisations.

17. These Terms and Conditions

If any term or provision in these Terms and Conditions shall in whole or in part be held to any extent be illegal or enforceable such term or provision or part thereof shall to that extent be deemed not to form part of these Terms and Conditions and the enforceability of the remainder of these Terms and Conditions shall not be affected thereby.
